The Do-Over

2008: Week Twenty One Recap

It’s hard to tell if we are having more fun as of late because the end is almost here (and we can give ourselves / livers a much needed break) or if it’s a result of the amazing cast of DJs that have been rolling through? It’s probably a combo of both, but one thing is for certain, the mystery guests have been killing it as we end the season on a high note. It doesn’t get much higher than this past weekend as we had guests from all across The Globe. The Bay Area’s finest, Sake One, was first up on the decks who quickly heated things up on the dance floor and set the precedent for the rest of the day. Next up, Ed Banger’s own DJ Mehdi brought the Parisian heat with a wicked disco and house set. Longtime fan, but first time caller, Rich Medina finally made his way out from The City of Brotherly Love to experience The Do-Over and he absolutely destroyed it with an extended set of Afro-Beat, Soul, and Hip-Hop bangers. Closing duties belonged to HVW8’s Ty G who kept it extra smooth all the way out.

The Final 3: If you don’t know the score by now then you’ve never been done-over. Expect the unexpected: mystery guests, sangria stains, uncontrollable body movements, and meeting new faces, all in a day’s work. Whatcha’ Wanna Do?

Following The Do-Over this week, we will be getting our posse on and heading to LAX for Banana Split Sundaes. Haycock will be joining the resident squad of Thee Mike B, DJ AM and Steve Aoki while all of The Do-Over folks are invited. Just drop “Do-Over” at the door for no hassle entrance. Free keg of beer on the dance floor from 10 til 11pm.
LAX is located at 1714 Las Palmas Ave. Hollywood, CA 90028

2008: Week Twenty Recap

It was a big day this past Sunday as Haycock celebrated The Bills 4-0 start, the crowd celebrated another festive Do-Over. Festivities were plentiful as hometown hero Blu Jemz dropped his final Do-Over set before heading back to the right coast. It was the first time we’ve had Blu Jemz rock an early set and it just might be our favorite set from him as he showed his range by dropping beats that taste like chicken (and waffles). The Rub’s Cosmo Baker was up next and took the party to new dimensions. That just might be the most hyped crowd we have witnessed during a Do-Over set?! Regardless, Cosmo Baker did his damn thing so if you are ever in NYC, be sure to check out The Rub getdown. Rare Form was given the difficult task of following, but came correct with the soulful sounds that The Bridges/DP Sound crew is known for. Libra’s finest Lisa J dropped a quick bday set rocking the classics (apologies for the mixup Lisa, it has been a long season!) and just when we thought the night was winding down, Nate Day had the place jumpin, hootin and hollerin as the crowd kept on partying craving for more. Well, not to worry…. The best part about Do-Over, you can do it all over. However, time is running out for 2008. Whatcha’ Wanna Do?

The Final 4: The Do-Over will be filled with some serious love this Sunday as we welcome special mystery guests from The City of Love, City of Brotherly Love and birthplace to The Summer of Love. Two of our mystery guests will be making their Do-Over debut and we get to cross off another name from our wish list. This is not to be missed and early arrival is highly recommended!!!
