The Do-Over

School’s out but Summer session was in full swing at The Do-Over this past Sunday with hip hop legend Large Professor dropping knowledge on the decks. Jayceeoh gave an informative lecture on the history of party ethics while Fashen turned in his thesis on why deejays have the best job in the world. Audible Agents came to The Do-Over campus to monitor dance floor parking violations and to see who was getting too high from the music. Luckily, they left just before Eli Escobar showed up to serve the good stuff for everyone to lose their minds to. Higher learning was definitely in the house on Sunday with an appearance by Michael Rapaport and JuJu from the Beatnuts. You might wanna play hooky from work next Sunday but you don’t be late to class.

The sun peeked out for the first time in a while it seemed… Gloom-Over (or so we hope). Something magical was about to happen and not for the Orlando Magic. This past Sunday at The Do-Over marked our 5th week of our 5th season, while the Lakers were ready to claim the trophy in Game 5 of the NBA Championship. The party people represented hard, many decked out in the purpz and gold. It seemed once the 3rd quarter was behind us, we all were crackin’ bottles in celebration (aka dropping sangria carafes all over ourselves).

Much respect to the heavy hitters in the place who had to brave the rawkus that only those present could describe: DJ Revolution, DJ Vadim, Kon & Amir, C-Minus & Dirty Dave. No power outages can stop us!

We are bringing it big for the daddies (and mama’s) this upcoming Sunday. Arrive early, stay late, enjoy the sunshine and expect one of our heaviest lineups to date. Happy Fathers Day to all!

It doesn’t get much better then this: bbq, beats, beer, and bball (Go Lakers!). The energy and vibe on Sunday was one of the best we have ever seen at The Do-Over. We don’t know if it was something in the sangria, The Lakers victory or our mystery guests?! From Byze One’s opening reggae set to Damon Bell’s boogie brigade to Rhettmatic’s party rocking jock jams during the game to Peanut Butter Wolf’s insane video set (15 foot screen on top of outside bar!) to Garth Trinidad’s sexy sounds to close it out, it was definitely one for the books. Best part about it, we will do it all over this weekend with another all-star cast of selectors lined up (4 of which are making their Do-Over debut), plus the Lakers game again will be televised.

What’cha Wanna Do? Do-Over

This past Sunday captured the true essence of The Do-Over with a diverse cast of all-stars rocking the house:  Adam 12, Dam-Funk, The Gaslamp Killer, Ohmega Watts, DJ Dez aka Andres of Slum Village & House Shoes. June Gloom-Over couldn’t even keep the masses away from getting done-over as it was packed from sun up to sun down and another crazy Do-Over.  Somehow, these next few weeks we have even more craziness lined up for you so you won’t want to miss the surprises in-store.  The Lake Show will also be on the tube.
