The Do-Over

Love was definitely in the air last Sunday at our special Valentine’s Day shindig aptly named “The Do-Lover.” It was a beautiful sunshiny winter day in L.A. and Shinehead’s lover’s rock reggae introduction certainly inspired a few new paternity cases amongst the early crowd.  Cupid came in the form of a masked vinyl-wielding villain who stole everyone’s hearts with a memorable block of blue-eyed-soul hits.  Adam 12 knows better than anyone that you can’t just love them and leave them alone because she’ll always want revenge. He brought just what the doctor ordered – from “One Love” to “Computer Love” he healed the broken hearted before handing it over to Jun.  And you know it ain’t no fun if the homeys can’t have none, so come get yours at The Do-Over.

What’cha Wanna Do? Do-Over!

This past Sunday captured the true essence of The Do-Over with a diverse cast of all-stars rocking the house:  Adam 12, Dam-Funk, The Gaslamp Killer, Ohmega Watts, DJ Dez aka Andres of Slum Village & House Shoes. June Gloom-Over couldn’t even keep the masses away from getting done-over as it was packed from sun up to sun down and another crazy Do-Over.  Somehow, these next few weeks we have even more craziness lined up for you so you won’t want to miss the surprises in-store.  The Lake Show will also be on the tube.

So here we are, twenty-four weeks have passed, thousands of gallons of sangria have been consumed, countless Mondays have been missed at work and hundreds of new friends have been adopted to The Do-Over family. We will gather one last time this Sunday for our annual end of the season extravaganza The Boo-Over where we will do Halloween over. This is your last chance to get done-over before we go into hibernation for the next six months and we are going out with a bang as we have an All-Star cast of mystery guests lined up that is not to be missed. Early arrival is highly recommended so come early, stay late. Costumes are mandatory for entrance, but since we are a day (or two) late and a dollar short at celebrating Halloween, budget style costumes are encouraged.

As far as what happened last week, well, much of the same as the last twenty-four weeks… Pure madness! First time caller long time listener Adam 12 came through and destroyed the place. One of the best sets and most skilled DJ’s we’ve heard all year. J-Logic was faced with the difficult task of following that up, but came correct as he dropped his 2nd annual Rocktoberfest set that had the crowd rocking out to the classics. The lovely Lady Sha was up next as she spiced and diced her way on the decks heating things up on the dance floor for Velocity B to close things out as he took it across the spectrum from hip-hop bangers to smooth groovers. We apologize to those who had to wait in line, but there’s only so much we can do as we’ve been stressing it for the last six months. Come early, kick back, and enjoy yourself to avoid this problem.
