Holy indepen-do… Our first ever 4th o’ July on a Sunday during our years is a wrap and oh boy. Not knowing what to expect, it did pop loud and all were lit from beginning to end. Following a very amazing lead-in with Team Do-Over (Haycock, Strong and thee Mike B) at the Swimming with Sharks party on Saturday, we all knew we were in for something that could have made us all argue why we didn’t do a do-over of The Do-Over on Monday.
Big thanks to all the DJ’s – 12th Planet, Eli Escobar, Platurn, Blu Jemz, Lloydski and sTerryo – who gave us all reason to celebrate and continue on a very ugly long weekend marathon.
Please be advised – the next Do-Over is pretty much guaranteed to blow your mind (get it? We are still blown from the 4th) so do come early and stay all the way late. We are going big this time.

We spoke amongst ourselves following last Sunday and realized we haven’t had that much fun in some time at The Do-Over. The formula of lots of good folks, stiff drinks and stand out music does equate to Do-Over success. Even though the Lakers lost, we still lived by the motto of “win or lose we booze”.
Do-Over’s Haycock kicked the day off with a mix in the grindy 70 bpm range bringing the roots, bass, dub, rock and other flavors for the first few hours. Azul followed with a short and set sweet as he warmed up the crowd for his hosting duties. Team Wino, following a successful AIDS Lifecycle ride from SF took over for the next few hours. Tim Love Lee, Timeteo and Toph One showed us how its done… Toph even played Haycock and Strong’s special selected bags as he usually does. Next up, our man Blu Jemz sparkled things up a bit and brought it home as we all realized how tipsy we were getting. Lastly, the one we have now coined as “Mr. Encore,” King Britt took on a long ride through all sorts of classic tunes.
Let’s get hyped for this week’s Comb-Over aka Fathers Day celebration. It’s sure to get very twisted. Perhaps some new daddies will be made as a result.

It was a big day this past Sunday as Haycock celebrated The Bills 4-0 start, the crowd celebrated another festive Do-Over. Festivities were plentiful as hometown hero Blu Jemz dropped his final Do-Over set before heading back to the right coast. It was the first time we’ve had Blu Jemz rock an early set and it just might be our favorite set from him as he showed his range by dropping beats that taste like chicken (and waffles). The Rub’s Cosmo Baker was up next and took the party to new dimensions. That just might be the most hyped crowd we have witnessed during a Do-Over set?! Regardless, Cosmo Baker did his damn thing so if you are ever in NYC, be sure to check out The Rub getdown. Rare Form was given the difficult task of following, but came correct with the soulful sounds that The Bridges/DP Sound crew is known for. Libra’s finest Lisa J dropped a quick bday set rocking the classics (apologies for the mixup Lisa, it has been a long season!) and just when we thought the night was winding down, Nate Day had the place jumpin, hootin and hollerin as the crowd kept on partying craving for more. Well, not to worry…. The best part about Do-Over, you can do it all over. However, time is running out for 2008. Whatcha’ Wanna Do?
The Final 4: The Do-Over will be filled with some serious love this Sunday as we welcome special mystery guests from The City of Love, City of Brotherly Love and birthplace to The Summer of Love. Two of our mystery guests will be making their Do-Over debut and we get to cross off another name from our wish list. This is not to be missed and early arrival is highly recommended!!!
