The Do-Over

Week Five Recap (June 13th, 2010)

We spoke amongst ourselves following last Sunday and realized we haven’t had that much fun in some time at The Do-Over. The formula of lots of good folks, stiff drinks and stand out music does equate to Do-Over success. Even though the Lakers lost, we still lived by the motto of “win or lose we booze”.

Do-Over’s Haycock kicked the day off with a mix in the grindy 70 bpm range bringing the roots, bass, dub, rock and other flavors for the first few hours. Azul followed with a short and set sweet as he warmed up the crowd for his hosting duties. Team Wino, following a successful AIDS Lifecycle ride from SF took over for the next few hours. Tim Love Lee, Timeteo and Toph One showed us how its done… Toph even played Haycock and Strong’s special selected bags as he usually does. Next up, our man Blu Jemz sparkled things up a bit and brought it home as we all realized how tipsy we were getting. Lastly, the one we have now coined as “Mr. Encore,” King Britt took on a long ride through all sorts of classic tunes.

Let’s get hyped for this week’s Comb-Over aka Fathers Day celebration. It’s sure to get very twisted. Perhaps some new daddies will be made as a result.

Week Twenty Two Recap (October 11, 2009)

Remember when you were a kid and you made a mistake in a game?  All you wanted was a second chance…a Do-Over. Well that’s definitely what we need for this past Sunday. Haycock opened us up and Don Guapo took us to his humble abode with an enlightening and danceable house set in the early hours. J-Boogie gave us some bay area love with remixes and mashes that kept us grooving until King Britt came through with a unique blend of hip hop and new soul. Maseo was just about to set the place on fire when a tussle erupted over old and new school hip-hop, or was it Pepsi and Coke, or maybe it was whether or not 9th Wonder was coming up next (sorry 9th). Actually, we don’t know what it was about, but after five solid years of fun we definitely won’t let a few bad apples spoil The Do-Over for everyone else.

In fact, the only way to make up for this is by doing it bigger and better this Sunday as we welcome another All-Star cast including an exclusive LA appearance by a special someone from the other side of the pond who has been on our Most Wanted List since day one. Only three left this season so join us Sunday for a Do-Over!

2008: Week Nine Recap

(Recap of Sunday July 13, 2008)

King Britt

King Britt

The King has indeed left the building, King Britt that is. After his long awaited Do-Over debut, King Britt left us on cloud nine (or perhaps it was Esthero’s presence?) with an amazing 2-hour set that had the crowd in a dancing frenzy. Wowzers! Overall the day was a very special one, not only with Philly’s finest making his debut, but longtime Do-Over regular Rodzilla celebrated his Bday and debut on the decks holding it down in true Rodzilla fashion. DJ Higher dropped riddim after riddim with an extended dancehall set while Blu Jemz and NYC’s sTERRYo capped the night off with a special tag team set of sweaty uptempo madness.

Sunday Sunday Sunday! Whether you are a racing fan or a fan of doing your weekend all-over, you won’t want to miss the action going down. Free, fun, & funky. Get in to fit in.
