It’s been said that “3″ is the magic number. Week Three of our sixth season proved just that. A sticky Memorial Day Sunday could be the perfect stage for The Do-Over. We expected a wild one, but perhaps we didn’t forsee it being that berserk.

In typical fashion Strong and Haycock adjusted the levels up for the first few hours. Strong took it across the place in various tempos building up to a disco pace, while Haycock went back down into the dirtier 90bpms tossing a vast selection. The voodoo deep master, Osunlade, followed with a sunny sweaty set of roller classics to deep daylight house jams. Hier followed it up with a fist pump set of the nice kind, even calling people out for expecting the Jamaica sounds he’s known and wasn’t necessarily falling into for most of the set. Beat Junkies own Rhettmatic did what he does best and ripped the patio a new one with a set of classics galore. Fresh from LAX, Pase Rock came in and bitch smacked the tipsy crowd around and did not let up until we were forced to close down at 10:15. All in all another reason you should get to The Do-Over early… it’s a daytime jam if you haven’t already realized.

What should you expect this upcoming Sunday? We ain’t gonna tell you who’s playing but we can assure you it will be another stumbling Sunday under the sun. Oh yeah… GO LAKERS!

Stepping into the final month of the season is always a pleasure for some of us, while others dread the coming months of sangria drought. The true gauge of the growth of The Do-Over can be seen in October. In years past, it’s been a gradual slide out until the famed Boo-Over finale, but this year it doesn’t appear to be so.

This past Sunday welcomed some of the folks we’ve been trying to get in all season. “The DJ’s that want to play at The Do-Over” versus “the DJ’s we have slots for at The Do-Over” is not at all a balanced scale. I guess with time these things are bound to happen.

Kicking things off was Mikey dropping lots of dancehall heat for his birthday listening as well as to the crowds delight. noMSG followed it up with a journey into the boogie and disco as we rode into the early evening. Dark Alley brought some major uptempo and booty sounds, which had things completely jumping off. Not his first time this season, but for sure his only birthday of the season, Pase Rock kept things flowing as the sangria ran to dangerously low levels. Not to fear, Goldfingers closed it down just before the red elixir hit its last drops with a big collection of jams.

Now for some very good news… This week we likely have the BIGGEST lineup of the year. Rarely do we get so excited this late in the season for so many notable DJ’s. Trust all year we’ve been honored to feature an amazing cast of DJ’s and we aren’t short selling that, but this week is something very epic. We’ve warned you. Plan accordingly.

Now for the bad news… An unplanned and undetected power issue caused us to lose all of the recordings this past week. What does that mean? It means there aren’t any downloads this week. The first person to comment with “please put Pase Rock’s set up” gets the gas face…

The Do-Over was all about the disco vibes this past weekend. From the disco choons that permeated through the sound system on the early tip from Jamie Strong and Conor to Cranes being turned into a serious discotheque throughout the day thanks in large part to our mystery guests Pase Rock, Al Jackson, Mona Lisa, and Lloydski. Even at the tail end of the night, the inside and outside was packed Dance Party USA style as folks got down to classic House.

Unfortunately, we encountered problems recording the sets so if you missed out, you truly did miss out on a special day. Sometimes what happens at The Do-Over, stays at The Do-Over.

With that being said, this Sunday is shaping up to be a very special one. The forecast is sunshine, 80s and plenty of fun due to some very special mystery guests including our first ‘live’ element of the summer which you won’t want to miss.

Come to The Do-Over where the odds are good cuz the goods are odd. That was indeed the case this past Sunday as it felt like an episode of VH1’s Hip-Hop Honors show with some of the attendees showing up. If you were there then you would know what we are talking about. Nonetheless, our mystery guests didn’t let that outshine them as they done did their damn thing. Fellow Jhramatic Sound partner Damon Bell kept it funky with a two-hour disco and boogie set that got things sexy on the dance floor. Spank Rock associate Pase Rock heated things up with an arsenal of dancehall to classic house as the crowd sweated it out in a dancing frenzy. The night was capped off by NWA founding member and electro pioneer, Arabian Prince, who rocked the classics while the crowd chanted along lyric for lyric. Just another Sunday at The Do.

The Final 10: This Sunday (2-6) marks our annual Hit+Run x Do-Over extravaganza where we create custom one of a kind t-shirts designed by the likes of Brent Rollins, Stephen Serrato, the Hit+Run crew and US, so come early as the first 50 will receive a free t-shirt, $20 per shirt after that. Sangria stains not included. If that wasn’t enough to entice you, wait until you see what we have lined up on the mystery guest tip. It will be another Do-Over first!
